Food cost is ingredient cost ÷ menu price × 100. Menu price less ingredient cost is ingredient contribution, before labor, rent, fees, and other costs. It is not net profit.

Your ten best-selling dishes
Name the ten dishes you want costed. Include the current menu price for each, before sales tax.
Recipes with measured quantities
List every ingredient and its quantity. Include sauces, garnishes, cooking oil, and prep items. Tell us which weights are raw, cooked, or drained.
Current prices and pack sizes
Supply a current price list or order guide with the purchase price, package quantity, unit, and product code where available.
Batch yields and serving sizes
Give the measured finished batch yield, servings per batch, portion size, and any trim or cooking loss. Include the recipes and yields for homemade prep items.
Start with one sample recipe and its matching price information. We check the format before requesting the rest. Remove payment details and unrelated private information from supplier files. Never email your password.

Send one sample first
Email us about your files. We review one recipe and its matching ingredient prices before accepting payment. Missing quantities or yields need to be resolved first.

Agree the ten dishes and delivery
We confirm the ten dishes, account access, and delivery date after sample review. The target is three business days after complete, checked inputs. You approve the scope before paying.

Review your costs together
We prepare the ten recipes and their summary, then use the 20-minute handover to check the figures and show price updates. One correction round is included.

Know what is included.
Is the $149 setup a subscription?
No. The assisted setup costs $149 once. DishCost Pro is a separate $39/month subscription, billed monthly. The first month is $188 total if you are starting Pro at the same time; Pro then continues at $39/month until you cancel. Existing Pro customers pay only the $149 setup charge in addition to their normal subscription.
When will my ten dishes be ready?
Our target is three business days after we receive complete, checked inputs for the agreed ten dishes. We confirm the delivery date after sample review and before payment. This pilot is limited to the first three accepted setup jobs so we can check delivery capacity.
Can you import my existing recipes automatically?
No automatic recipe migration is included. We manually rebuild the ten agreed recipes from your files. DishCost can import ingredient prices from supported CSV layouts, but that does not import complete recipes. We check your file format and any prep items during sample review; a long recipe or nested prep structure may need a smaller agreed scope.
How will you access my DishCost account?
We agree how to add the recipes to your account before work starts. This is part of sample review. Do not email your password. If we cannot agree a suitable method, we do not accept the setup job or payment.
What does one correction round cover?
After the handover, send one combined list of corrections to the agreed ten recipes, such as a quantity entered incorrectly or a price copied from the wrong pack size. We confirm that list before making the corrections. Extra dishes, recipe redesign, new supplier files, and ongoing price entry require a separate agreement.
What is outside the setup?
This is a ten-dish recipe-costing setup. It does not include stock counts, invoice scanning, POS integration, labor or overhead costing, nutrition analysis, menu redesign, or ongoing data entry. You supply and confirm the actual prices, quantities, portions, and yields. We do not estimate missing recipe inputs or promise savings.
Can I set up my recipes myself?
Yes. Assisted setup is optional. Start a free DishCost account without a credit card and build your own recipes, or use the free food cost calculator without an account. Upgrade to Pro only when you need it. Pro is $39/month and you can cancel anytime from settings.
